RUSSELLVILLE Ark.- RSD proudly hosted Senator Breanne Davis, State Representatives Stan Berry, and Aaron Pilkington, along with Kelli Lamberson, Field Representative for Congressman Westerman, as part of Take Your Legislators to School Month on Wednesday.
The legislators visited London Elementary School and Russellville High School, where they observed how collaboration, assessment, and relationship-building play a vital role in the success of students and staff. At London Elementary, Principal Marcia Correia and classroom teachers shared the great success London Elementary has seen when focusing on collaboration, relationships, and measurement.
The visit continued at Russellville High School, where the focus shifted to the District's offerings in STEM and career education. Administrators and teachers demonstrated how RSD prepares students for future careers through hands-on learning experiences. Legislators had the opportunity to hear from students excelling in STEM, including those in the District’s award-winning programs, such as Robotics.
“Welcoming our legislators into our schools gave them a firsthand look at the dedication, collaboration, and innovation happening every day in RSD,” said Dr. Ginni McDonald, RSD Superintendent. “I am incredibly proud of our students and staff for their commitment to excellence, and it’s inspiring to see our legislators recognize and support the work we’re doing to shape a brighter future for our community.”
Take Your Legislators to School Month is an important initiative that allows legislators to gain a better understanding of the successes and challenges facing public schools.
